About the Role
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who is educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
- Demonstrate competency through knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for the position.
- Adhere to the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
- Follow Accreditation Standards and CDC Guidelines for Infection Control.
- Supervise LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and Unit Technicians.
Requirements
- Graduate from an NLN School of Nursing.
- Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Specialty certifications required for specific areas (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP) within 12–18 months of starting in the specialty.
- De-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days).
- A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred (must be within the past five years or evidence of a successful refresher program).

- Proficient in computer use, including MS Outlook, Word, and clinical systems.
- Ability to apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
- Collaborative and respectful working relationships across SRHS and other organizations.
Physical Demands
- Moderately active work involving sitting, moving about the facility, and traveling within the SRHS service area.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects, including the human body.
- Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues, which may carry infectious disease hazards.
- Repetitive motions, such as typing and using office equipment.
- Ability to perceive sound at normal speaking levels and make fine discriminations in sound.
- Close visual acuity to shift focus between computer monitors and printed materials.
- Ability to remain active for extended periods without undue fatigue.
- Flexibility to work assigned schedules, including off days, shifts, or weekends as needed.

Schedule
Shift: 5 PM – 5 AM, 3 shifts per week.
Location
Singing River Pascagoula Hospital.
