Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry.
• Be directly responsible and accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department.
• Communicate with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in the patient’s condition and/or response to treatment.
• Maintain knowledge of EMTALA regulations and report child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and the Hospital Social Worker.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Basic arrhythmia interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in an acute‑care hospital setting; Emergency Department setting preferred.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Facility‑specific requirements (as applicable):
  • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
  • EDAP‑certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
  • Non‑OB facilities: NRP certificate within 90 days of hire and maintain current.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire (required).
