The Registered Nurse (RN) provides rapid, high-quality nursing care to patients with acute illness, injury, and life-threatening conditions in a fast-paced Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, prioritize, and triage patients using established clinical protocols.
  • Provide emergency nursing care, treatments, and life-saving interventions.
  • Administer medications, blood products, and IV therapies as ordered.
  • Monitor patient condition, interpret clinical findings, and promptly communicate changes to the healthcare team.
  • Assist with emergency procedures, trauma care, diagnostic testing, and patient stabilization.
  • Operate and monitor emergency and life-support equipment.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, EMS, and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Promote patient safety, quality care, and positive clinical outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $35.35 to $53.58 per hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.

Qualifications

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Skills

Basic knowledge of emergency nursing protocols, ability to handle critical situations, strong communication skills, proficiency in operating emergency equipment, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams are essential.

Facility Specific Requirements

Facility may require additional certifications such as:

  • In Paramedic Base Station ED MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
  • EDAP certified facilities Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
  • NON-OB facilities NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Trauma designated facilities Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain.
  • Non-trauma facilities, TNCC preferred.
