About the role

Advocate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Electrophysiology team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures readiness of equipment and supplies and recognizes and reacts appropriately to potential emergencies.
  • Establishes a safe, therapeutic and compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and their significant others.
  • Manages and facilitates quality care. Identifies and implements changes that enhance effectiveness of patient care delivery. Promotes and monitors compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory agency standards.
  • Promotes and maintains clinical competencies through staff development activities.
  • Coordinates departmental functions.
  • Participates in electrophysiology and surgical procedures.
  • Administers patient care as mandated by licensure, certification or registration.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge to ensure continuous quality of professional services.
  • Provides age/developmentally appropriate patient procedures in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited School of Nursing with three years EP lab experience and one year management or supervisory experience.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in applicable state, CPR certification, and ACLS certification.

  • Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other ancillary professional staff when discussing patient care, procedures or problems.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions.
  • Ability to obtain/communicate information to patients of varying age group and at their level of comprehension.
  • Analytical skills necessary for problem assessment and solution with schedules and equipment.
  • Ability to handle daily stressful environment and support employees and physicians in a critical patient care environment.
