Registered Nurse (RN) - Director Surgical Services
About the role
The Director of Surgical Services at Frye Regional Medical Center is responsible for managing the daily operations of the assigned department or function to align with departmental and organizational objectives. This role reports to the Senior Director of Operations.
Responsibilities
- Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
- Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development, and student engagements.
- Determines and justifies needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitors usage, and oversees properly working order equipment and/or stock supplies.
- Affirms the quality of patient care delivered and coordinates patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments.
- May provide patient care when necessary.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
- Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
- Coordinates and directs internal/external audits and reports out to proper committees.
- Ensures the department stays focused on its important role in the continuum of care.
- Adheres to all core measures, patient safety goals, and NQF safe practices.
Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required. A Master's Degree is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Current RN license to practice in NC is mandatory.
Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Registered Nurse in Surgery is required. Leadership/Director experience is preferred.
Skills
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills. Proven leadership ability and hospital operational ability. Ability to serve as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing.
