About the Role

UC Health is hiring a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) for the 6 Ridgeway Psychiatry unit, a 20-bed mixed Geriatric/Psychiatric co-ed unit focusing on the treatment of older adults (many 55+) with primary psychiatric diagnoses. This position is for the day shift at UC Medical Center.

This is the only Psychiatric Unit in Southwest Ohio where you can gain exposure to a variety of behavioral health diagnoses, treat patients that other institutions may not accept, and work alongside world-renowned clinicians. Responsibilities

• Utilize specialized nursing knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide culturally based, age-specific care to groups and individuals.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Develop, revise, and coordinate individualized plans of care within unit standards of practice.
• Communicate the plan of care effectively to all team members and establish care priorities based on patient needs.
• Provide clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment and involve them in assessment and ongoing care.
• Identify and respond appropriately to diverse patient needs, including behavioral health, psychological, and cultural/religious considerations.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting unit needs.
• Document the nursing process accurately and concisely, including treatment evaluation, in accordance with hospital policies.
• Act as a resource and mentor for new personnel, floaters, and supplemental staff.
• Pursue personal professional development and contribute to the development of peers and colleagues.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
• Current Ohio RN License.
• BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS certification as required by department based on patient population needs.
• Minimum of six months of direct patient care experience in a psychiatric setting or equivalent college-level coursework in nursing, psychology, or social work.
• For employees in UCMC Psychiatric Services: NCI-APS (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills) Certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
