Registered Nurse (RN) - CMH Oncology - PRN - Days
About the role
The Medical Oncology department at the Hendrick Cancer and Rehab Center is Southern Virginia’s premier cancer resource. The department provides advanced care for cancer and blood disorders, collaborating with specialists at Community Memorial Hospital and VCU Health for multidisciplinary evaluations. Treatment includes chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, and other medications. The department is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and partners with VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Responsibilities
- Integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family.
- Aids the health care team in preventing illness and injury, maintaining wellness, and providing comfort.
- Directs, educates, and acquires leadership skills at the unit level.
- Delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.
- Safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year RN experience required; Oncology experience preferred.
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state.
- AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
- Follows documented physician/licensed independent provider orders.
- Guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing and established national nursing practice standards.
- Organizes work and delegates and supervises others (RN's, LPN's, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries, etc.) in carrying out assignments.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Associates Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state’s Board of Nursing.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program.
- Certification in specialty area.

Schedule
Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements and/or as needed.
