Join the Clinical Resource Team at UPMC Western Maryland as a Professional Staff Nurse in the Weekend Program. Enjoy full-time benefits while working only weekends—24 hours from Friday at 3 P.M. to Monday at 7 A.M. Earn a 10% Float Pool differential plus a 30% shift differential on top of your base rate.
About the role
The Clinical Resource Team is a group of healthcare professionals trained to work across various inpatient units. This role offers the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population and enjoy variety in your work.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 months of nursing experience
- Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification based on AHA standards within 30 days of hire
- BSN preferred
- UPMC-approved national certification preferred
Graduate nurses will have 120 days from graduation to obtain their RN license.
Responsibilities
- Communicate safety hazards identified in the workplace to peers and management
- Model safe work hours, time management, and a healthy lifestyle
- Demonstrate knowledge of adult learning principles and apply them in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff
- Provide detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to guide them through care transitions
- Support the development of students, new staff, and colleagues; may serve as a preceptor
- Create an environment of open dialogue, inquiry, and continuous development by seeking feedback and improving practice
- Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment
- Formulate daily goals and a plan of care for patients, involving the patient as a partner and considering individual needs holistically
- Ensure patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers
- Incorporate national professional organization goals, as well as business unit and health system goals, to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction
- Actively participate in unit-based shared governance, goal setting, and support change processes to improve care quality and practice environment
- Serve as a highly engaged and full partner on the care team, responding to team member needs for assistance and partnership
- Identify opportunities for quality improvement and take personal responsibility in improving patient satisfaction with care and service
- Utilize research and evidence-based practice to support clinical care improvements; discuss opportunities for quality improvement at multidisciplinary rounds and influence patient plans of care
