North Alabama Medical Center's Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment dedicated to providing exceptional care for critically ill cardiac and vascular patients. The unit specializes in the management of complex cardiovascular conditions, including:
- Post-operative open-heart surgery patients
- Advanced heart failure cases
- Patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring and life-sustaining therapies
CVICU nurses work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care. This dynamic unit offers opportunities to develop advanced critical care skills, utilize cutting-edge technology, and make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes while supporting patients and families through some of their most challenging healthcare experiences.
How you'll contribute
- Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments
- Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
- Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs
- Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances
- Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients
- Participates in performance improvement and continuing education
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance
Schedule
3x12 Full Time - 7:00PM - 7:00AM
Requirements
- Associate's degree or higher in Nursing
- Current Alabama RN license (or eligible for licensure)
- BLS required
