Registered Nurse RN Cardiology
About the Role
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Cardiology provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adult patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions in an inpatient setting. This unit also functions as an overflow from Intermediate Care unit as well as a Level 1 Stroke Unit. This role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration, and the ability to manage complex cardiac patients in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to inpatient cardiology patients
- Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, labs, and patient status
- Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and clinical protocols
- Respond promptly to changes in condition, rapid responses, and cardiac emergencies
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
- Support quality, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program
- Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Connecticut
- BLS certification
Preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
- Prior inpatient cardiology, telemetry, step-down, or acute care experience
- ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain within designated timeframe)
Schedule
Full-time, 36 hours per week, night shift. Every other weekend and holiday rotation.
