Registered Nurse RN - Cardiac ICU - Full-Time Nights

About the role

The Cardiac ICU is a 24 bed inpatient unit focusing on patients requiring cardiac and vascular surgery, TAVR, Mitral Clips, ECMO, CRRT, VAD, IABP, Impella, and advanced ventilator management. Patient care includes early detection and prevention of complications, management of complex physiological problems, patient/family education, and family psychosocial support.

Responsibilities

• Provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients.
• Seeks and provides feedback for improved clinical practice.
• Assumes a beginning clinical bedside leadership role and seeks mentoring in this process.
• Participates on PNGC councils and Nursing Quality Teams as appropriate.
• Works with other care team members to recruit and retain an excellent nursing care team.
• For new graduates, focuses on developing knowledge and skills and showing growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients.
• Coordinates care for assigned patients on a shift to promote clinical outcomes.
• Consults with more experienced clinicians and accepts feedback as a constructive professional development tool.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
• At least 1 year of RN experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Previous specialty experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree, ADN, or Diploma in Nursing required.
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience.
• Demonstrated competence in RN I performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire.

Skills

• Delivery of safe, effective, efficient care that meets population specific guidelines.
• Active communication with patients, families, and colleagues at all levels.
• Effective prioritization, problem-solving, and utilization of evidence-based practice.
• Personal mastery, leadership, delegation, and support of NGHS shared governance model.
