About the role

The position involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of assigned patients in various outpatient settings such as cancer infusion centers, specialty infusion centers, and general infusion centers. The RN works under the supervision of nurse managers, practice managers, or directors.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served.
  • Partners with patients and families to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care, treatments, and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
  • Affirms and incorporates evidence-based standards of practice.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams in coordinating care.
  • Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of the plan of care.
  • Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care, including adherence to current evidence-based practices and quality measures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and modifies educational methods to ensure patient/family comprehension.
  • Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge-specific education that includes family/caregiver.
  • Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents accurately.
  • Completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per Riverside Health System standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred), Associates Degree in Nursing (Preferred), or Program Graduate in Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state upon hire.
  • CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) upon hire.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Registered Nurse Intravenous (CRNI) from the Infusion Nurses Certification Corporation and Certified Oncology Nurse.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care protocols.

Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
