About the role
As a Registered Nurse (RN) - Bilingual Spanish/English, you will administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician
- Recognize and treat cancer-related and treatment-related issues
- Monitor and chart vital signs, document in the medication administration record
- Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge
- Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol
- Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness
- Teach patients and caregivers regarding treatment expectations
- Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive medications
- Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication
- Educate patients and caregivers about follow-up care and emergency services
Requirements
- Valid New York State RN License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
- Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with an EMR (preferred)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer, standing, bending, and reaching
- Knowledge of standard precautions and the ability to utilize appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations for patient care needs
- Must be bilingual in Spanish/English
