Registered Nurse (RN) | Behavioral Health Senior Unit | PRN

Position Highlights

The Avera Behavioral Health Senior Unit is a 20 bed unit that provides a welcoming, calming, and healing environment to our patients as well as their families. The Senior unit’s environment is an active and challenging care environment that requires critical thinking and at the same time values autonomous professional nursing practice.

What You Will Do

• Reviews physician prescriptions and communicates the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team.
• Counsels patients, families, and friends on understanding their condition, medications, and self-care skills.
• Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care standards, reviewing patient records, noting changing conditions and needs, and re-evaluating care objectives.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Keeps patient care equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Keeps patient care supplies ready by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; stocking items.

Essential Qualifications

• Active license in the state of practice.
• Experience working in a clinical environment (1-3 years preferred).

Pay

The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience.
$32.50 - $48.50
