The Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

Responsibilities

• Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
• Implementing clinical nursing interventions
• Having a highly diverse medical skillset
• Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
• Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment
• Providing direct patient care according to the provider’s prescribed plan of care (and nursing scope of practice)
• Closely monitoring progress/recovery
• Absess and documents the patient’s conditions and report changes as needed
• Administering medication, insulin, and IV/fluids, documenting thoroughly
• Inspecting and caring for wounds, changing dressings, and assisting with personal hygiene
• Applying effective interviewing skills to elicit information from patient and/or family/significant other
• Assessing patient for further injuries, infections, bedsores, etc. and delivering appropriate treatments
• Collaborating with providers, aides, and allied health professionals to ensure exceptional patient outcomes

Requirements

• Current state licensure (or covered compact licensure) as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care; ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support acceptable in lieu of BLS)
• One (1) year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Recent Behavioral Health experience (preferred, not required)

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred)

• Effective interviewing skills
• Ability to assess and document patient conditions
• Proficiency in administering medications and IV fluids
• Knowledge of wound care and personal hygiene
• Collaborative teamwork skills
