Work environment
The Behavioral Health Pavilion at Banner University Medical Center – South Campus in Tucson, AZ is a Level 1 Psychiatric facility. Services include crisis stabilization, psychiatric assessments, 24-hour psychiatric and nursing care, expressive arts therapy, group therapy, family support therapy, medication management, and a separate behavioral health unit within the Emergency Department. RN to patient ratio is 8:1 or less.
Responsibilities
- Complete nursing assessments, medication administration, and daily living activities
- Keep patients safe and encourage patients to learn new coping skills and/or attend group sessions
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs
- Review patient history and physical with patient/family and assure completion within appropriate timeframe
- Review diagnostics and laboratory data and report abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers
- Formulate and initiate a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team
- Evaluate the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revise the plan of care as needed
- Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record in a legible, timely manner that reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient's response to treatment
- Participate in unit or facility shared leadership and contribute to the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes
- Interact with physicians, patients, families, external contacts and other health care providers to report and clarify information; may work with clergy to provide spiritual support
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
- BLS certification required
- Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations
- Employees working in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment; an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire

- Professional certification preferred
Schedule
Full-time day position with three 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM–7:30 PM). Includes a set rotation every third weekend and rotating holidays. Self-scheduling tool available; additional $3/hour weekend shift differential applies when applicable.
Pay
$10,000 sign-on incentive available for RNs with a minimum of 12 months Behavioral Health RN experience.
