Pay
$36 - $40/hour
Responsibilities
- Ensure hospice patients are comfortable and forge compassionate, meaningful connections with the people in their lives.
- Guide patients and families through the end-of-life journey, maintaining trust as a priority.
- Act as a respected member of the team, both as a caregiver and hospice educator.
- Exercise autonomy in making care decisions at the bedside to bring comfort to patients.
- Help patients and loved ones understand and embrace the palliative nature of hospice and the benefits of comfort-focused end-of-life care.
Where You’ll Work
- Spend most of your time caring for hospice patients in their homes, whether a private residence or an assisted living/skilled nursing facility.
- Make 4-6 visits each day.
- Visit the local program office once a week to meet with an interdisciplinary team (social workers, physicians, chaplains, and nurses) for holistic patient and family support.
Requirements
- Currently licensed to practice nursing in the state where the VITAS program is located.
- A minimum of two years of nursing experience in hospice, home health, or community health in the last five years (equivalent experience or licensure may be considered).
- Reliable transportation.
- Approach work with commitment, compassion, and a can-do attitude, prioritizing patient welfare.
