Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Responsibilities

• Supervises LPNs and Nursing Assistants
• Provides nursing treatment and personal care services to nursing home residents
• Assesses, treats, and prevents pressure ulcers
• Makes rounds to monitor food and liquid input/output
• Performs hygiene tasks and administers injections/enemas
• Takes vital signs, feeds, applies dressings, and manages catheters and ostomies
• Administers medications, orders and reconciles controlled substances, and prepares for lab tests
• Documents vital signs, weight, fluid and nutritional intake and output
• Collects and performs routine laboratory tests on samples
• Orients new personnel and assists with nursing care techniques
• Maintains IV therapy, performs treatments, and dispenses medications
• Completes nursing care plans to meet patient needs
• Investigates and reports accidents and adverse reactions to medications
• Maintains infection control standards and monitors resident wandering
• Ensures accurate shift reports and follows hospital policies and procedures
• Operates or supervises specialized equipment and provides assistance to the nursing team

Required Qualifications, Skills And Abilities

• Completion of a formal education program in Nursing
• Valid NYS RN License
• CPR certified
• Basic computer/EMR software proficiency
• Physical demands: Walk long distances, climb stairs, stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, speak, read, write, hear, and operate medical equipment
• Mental demands: Maintain confidentiality, follow hospital policies, and adhere to HIPAA regulations
