Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. This individual demonstrates competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population. The Staff RN‑Inpatient role incorporates essential functions adapted from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition (2010).

Unit

Our state‑of‑the‑art Emergency Department is the area’s only adult Level 1 Trauma Center. It features a 4‑bed Trauma Bay, 55 general ED beds, and a busy triage area, supported by specialized staffing including dedicated Arena Teams (4 RNs, 2 Techs, 1 Paramedic) and Trauma teams (4 RNs, 1 Tech, 1 Paramedic). Nursing‑to‑patient ratios are thoughtfully adjusted based on care areas to ensure optimal patient outcomes in this dynamic, high‑acuity environment.

Schedule

Three 12‑hour night shifts, 19:15‑07:15, working the Weekend Program. FTE: 0.9.

Pay

Bonus: Up to $15,000.

Requirements

  • Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or a multi‑state nursing license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider or an AHA‑approved equivalent within 90 days of hire.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Course Certification (TNCC) within one year of hire.
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one year of hire (incumbents hired before 6/1/2023 must obtain PALS by 6/30/2024).
  • Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of adult patients in a high‑acuity, trauma environment.
  • Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice, typically acquired through an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred. Non‑BSN nurses with less than one year of RN experience must enroll in a BSN (or higher) program within 15 months of hire and complete the degree within 5 years (6 years for MSN, DNP, or PhD).
