Full-time benefited position. Scheduled 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE). The unit operates weekdays from 6:30 am–5:30 pm. Shifts are a mix of 8 and 10-hour shifts; full-time positions are scheduled four, ten-hour shifts. Call coverage is mandatory: average 3 weeknight shifts per month and weekend coverage once every 7th weekend (divided between Neuro Intervention and Angiography). Callback requirement is 40 minutes for Neuro Intervention and 30 minutes for Angiography.
About the role
The RN Nurse – Acute supports Angiography, assisting a Physician or Physician Assistant in over 60 different procedures. Assignments maintain a 1:1 patient-to-nurse ratio.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and possibly sedate the patient.
- Chart the entire case.
- Educate the patient on discharge instructions.
- Ensure the patient has been prepped appropriately by assessing allergies, medications, lab values, and administering pre-procedure medications (e.g., antibiotics).
- Rotate through all radiology modalities: Angiography, Neuro Intervention, MRI, CT, X-ray, and Ultrasound.
Requirements
- Current Michigan Nursing License.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (effective January 1, 2013, all new hires must have a BSN degree or agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five years of hire).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
Qualifications
Candidates with ICU (Intensive Care Unit) or ER (Emergency Room) experience are encouraged to apply.
