Registered Nurse (RN) - Adult Behavioral Health Unit - New Graduates Welcome
This is a Registered Nurse 1 or 2 vacancy open to all RN candidates. For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering up to $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible experienced Registered Nurses with 0-2 years of experience and $20,000 for experienced Registered Nurses with greater than 2 years of experience. Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount is prorated for Part time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.
About the role
The Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit in Sanford is a 40-bed, locked unit that provides a 24-hour treatment program designed to care for adults ages 18-95 in acute psychiatric crisis. The multidisciplinary team treats individuals experiencing major mental illnesses and addiction-related problems. The program includes voluntary and involuntary levels of care. The team of mental health professionals plans and works together with the patient to provide psychiatric care, medical treatment, support, referral for follow-up care, and opportunities for learning and emotional growth. Additionally, a full-time Nurse Educator is on-site for additional support and further learning opportunities for all staff.

Responsibilities
The Mental Health Registered Nurse - Acute Care role provides high-quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Collaborates, delegates, and communicates with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal care.
- MH RN II: This level is competent in their clinical role and has demonstrated the ability to care for most patients assigned. Though not able to care for every patient type within their area of hire, demonstrates how to obtain the appropriate resources to develop required skills and knowledge over time. This level includes automatic advancement after 1 year as a RN I—must be in good standing and meets RN I requirements.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
- Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required.
- Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Other certifications may be required specific to area of practice or in accordance with Department guidelines.
- One year of recent RN experience required. Automatic advancement from RN I level if all onboarding requirements are complete, including the New Grad Residency (where available).

Pay
The pay range for this position is $35.61 per hour for New Grad RNs (less than 1 year of experience). The pay range for Nurses with greater than 1 year of experience is $38.45 to $56.02 per hour (based on experience). Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
