About the role

The Registered Nurse is responsible for administering and supervising medication administration and participating in the plan of care for clients. The Registered Nurse will respond to health needs of the clients, making appropriate referrals and assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and supervise the administration of medication to clients in residential treatment units, transitional living, Monarch School, and After School Program within established guidelines.
  • Participate in the implementation of the plan of care for Bellefaire JCB clients.
  • Make rounds in cottages and attend to health care needs of clients.
  • Make physical assessments of clients and document significant findings in the client’s record.
  • Make appropriate referrals to the pediatrician after screening clients.
  • Assist the pediatrician with examining clients in the Health Clinic.
  • Teach clients and staff about health care topics and medications.
  • Utilize the time log system to document billable hours of direct care.
  • Perform medical treatments on clients when indicated (wound care, etc.).
  • Orient new staff and train them on policies and procedures.
  • Attend client staffing and treatment team meetings as indicated.
  • Assist and train cottage staff to make appropriate decisions pertaining to the health care needs of clients.
  • Note, transcribe, and check orders against Medical Administration Records (MARs) when indicated.
  • Contact the physician with abnormal lab results and emergencies.
  • Count narcotics daily and sign audit sheets for controlled substances.
  • Order, receive, and distribute routine and Leave of Absence (LOA) medications.
  • Return and credit medications when indicated.
  • Call for lab results when indicated and follow up on outside medical appointments.
  • Assist with daily operations of the Health Clinic.
  • Assist the secretary with filing, obtaining consent, and scheduling outside appointments.
  • Keep the exam room and Health Clinic clean, stocked, and orderly.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
  • Valid Ohio Registered Nurse license.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents.

Schedule

  • Afternoon shifts: 10 or 12 hours.
  • Alternating weekends and holidays.
