About the Role
Provides specialized renal and post-operative care, focusing on Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) therapies, acute med-surg, and nephrology management.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual or automated PD exchanges, maintaining sterile technique to prevent infections.
- Conduct clinical assessments, manage pain and surgical wounds, and monitor fluid and electrolyte balance.
- Follow physician orders precisely, administer medications, and observe patient condition changes for timely interventions.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care with nephrologists, surgeons, dietitians, and discharge planners to ensure seamless patient transitions and optimal renal health.
- Educate patients and caregivers on PD routines, medications, and recovery to promote independence.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse licensure from the relevant state nursing board.
- BLS certification within one month of hire.
- Education from an accredited nursing program or equivalent professional licensure.
