About the Role
This position ensures proper staffing across all nursing units and oversees hospital activities in the absence of senior management. It involves clinical and administrative supervision, staffing coordination, and acting as the hospital's representative.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and visit units to assess operational status, interpret policies, and address staffing issues.
- Screen incoming patients for appropriate admission and facilitate proper level of care placement.
- Serve as the hospital spokesperson, investigate incidents, and respond to emergencies.
- Consult with on-call administrators and coordinate emergency operations as needed.
- Perform clinical functions and intervene in patient, family, or physician concerns, collaborating with relevant teams.
- Manage staffing for upcoming shifts by assigning staff, adjusting schedules, and utilizing agency personnel effectively.
- Monitor staff competency, conduct performance input, and oversee temporary staff reassignments.
- Collaborate with other supervisors and staffing teams to optimize resource utilization.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing and RN license in the state or a compact license.
- Current BLS certification.
- Strong supervisory, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate staffing and respond effectively to hospital needs.
