About the role

The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) is seeking a Quality Management Specialist (QMS) - Registered Nurse (RN) for the Quality & Patient Safety Department.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates performance that improves the care for a group of patients
  • Assigned responsibility for their assigned quality management program area activities for the Medical Center and all off-site locations
  • Collects data, monitors staff compliance with relevant policies, directives, and standards, provides reports detailing trends, and provides direct staff support to all services in planning, designing, integrating, implementing, modifying, and administering a comprehensive quality management program area
  • Participates in several facility councils, committees, and workgroups
  • Directly supports facility leadership in areas of organization, development, direction, and evaluation of the quality program within the facility
  • Facilitates and leads Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Healthcare Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (HFMEA) processes, and rapid improvement events
  • Supports the command's strategic initiative of Lean Six Sigma program by leading and facilitating rapid improvement events and other Lean tools

Requirements

  • Basic Requirements: Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • English Language Proficiency: Possession of a current - full - active - and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e. - Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • Preferred Experience: 3+ years experience as a nurse in a clinical setting, Experience in Surgery department and survey readiness

  • Scope: Practice - Veteran/Patient Driven Care - Leadership - Professional Development and Evidence-Based Practice/Research

Skills

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission - Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) - Long Term Care Institute (LTCI) - Office of Inspector General (OIG) - and other internal and external agency regulations and requirements
