Registered Nurse - Pulmonary Post Thoracic Surgery

About the role

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to provide specialized care in a Pulmonary Post Thoracic Surgery unit.

Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence‑based nursing care to adult post‑operative thoracic and pulmonary patients.
• Perform complex assessments, manage chest tubes and drains, and support ventilator and oxygen therapies.
• Manage pain and ensure safe patient recovery and discharge planning.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on recovery processes and post‑discharge care.
• Precept and mentor new staff members, fostering a learning environment.
• Contribute to quality improvement and safety initiatives within the unit.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license.

Skills

• Experience in thoracic, pulmonary, or surgical nursing preferred.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑focused environment.
