About the role

RN Progressive Care Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to: Director

Responsibilities

  • Reports to: Director
  • Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Maintains patient records and documents patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Detects change in patient status, reports to appropriate health care team member and utilizes resources as dictated by the acuity.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Requirements

  • Current RN to practice in the state of VA
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Graduate of a Program in Professional Nursing required.
  • Can practice as a RN Applicant per the Virginia Department of Health guidelines.
  • BCLS: ACLS within one year of hire/transfer.

Essential Functions

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
