Registered Nurse - PRN Float Pool

About the Role

A registered nurse specializing in Medsurg, Telemetry, and Intermediate Care settings, practicing independently to deliver routine and complex patient care in accordance with treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process.
• Administer medications and treatments following protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care details accurately.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding health needs and resources.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to care team members and manage clinical situations effectively.
• Coordinate patient throughput, facilitate admissions, discharges, and transfers to ensure smooth flow.
• Maintain unit operations, evaluate staffing needs, and ensure proper use of equipment and supplies.
• Promote a safe environment by adhering to patient safety practices and regulatory standards.
• Follow clinical policies, ensure compliance, and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Utilize health information systems for documentation and process medical orders accurately.
• Interpret patient charts, recognize abnormal findings, and respond appropriately.
• Ensure patient safety by adhering to safety guidelines and reporting incidents.

Requirements

• BSN preferred; minimum of 2 years’ experience in Medsurg/Telemetry and Intermediate Care; 5 years preferred.
• Current RN license in the state or compact, BLS, ACLS required; PALS for pediatric care.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and delegation skills; ability to adapt to unit needs.
