Registered Nurse - PRN Float Pool

About the Role

This position involves providing independent nursing care in Medsurg, Telemetry, and Intermediate Care settings, utilizing clinical judgment to manage patient situations effectively. The nurse assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, addressing complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver evidence-based care tailored to individual patient needs.
• Coordinate patient throughput, including admissions, discharges, and transfers, to facilitate smooth patient flow.
• Oversee and evaluate nursing care and unit functions during shifts, ensuring proper use of equipment and resources.
• Maintain a safe environment by following safety guidelines, participating in quality improvement, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Follow clinical policies, accurately process medical orders, and maintain comprehensive patient documentation.
• Use diagnostic tools, troubleshoot medical equipment, and educate patients on equipment use.
• Read and interpret patient charts to ensure accuracy and identify issues promptly.
• Address safety concerns, recognize signs of physiological or psychological problems, and participate in incident reporting and investigations.
• Administer medications, document care, educate patients and families, and delegate tasks appropriately.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work across multiple units and actively participate in unit operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of combined Medsurg/Telemetry and Intermediate Care experience; 5 years preferred.
• Current RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (as applicable).
• Proficiency in health information documentation, medical equipment, and order processing.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
