About the role
The Registered Nurse Preceptor at Central Maine Healthcare (CMH) is responsible for guiding, directing, and supervising technical nursing activities of the nurse preceptee. They also provide guidance and consultation on effective patient care and scope of practice.
Responsibilities
- Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology, and/or current research.
- Identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified.
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Works collaboratively with patients, patients' family, significant others, and hospital staff to achieve goals and outcomes.
Requirements
- Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
- Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
- Ventilator Management experience preferred.
- Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) or similar certification; preferred.
- Completion of preceptor class.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
Skills
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
- Collaborative working style.
Benefits
Central Maine Healthcare offers competitive compensation packages, including up to $20,000 for Registered Nurses with 2 or more consecutive years of RN experience and up to $10,000 for New Graduate Registered Nurses.
