About the Role

As a Postpartum Registered Nurse at Mt. Auburn Hospital, you will care for mother-baby couplets, supporting both physical recovery and newborn transition. You will provide education on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery while ensuring a safe, compassionate patient experience. Nurses typically care for 3 couplets, with flexibility based on patient needs, and work closely with a collaborative interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to patients and makes necessary nursing judgments.
  • Assesses patient health care needs for the formulation, implementation, and evaluation of a care plan.
  • Coordinates patient care and directs assistive personnel to provide safe, effective, efficient, equitable, and timely, patient-centered care.
  • Demonstrates awareness of environmental forces on health care of patients and their families.
  • Identifies resources necessary to implement the plan of care.
  • Develops relationships with patients and families that maintain and communicate trust and respect.
  • Communicates effectively in the exchange of information and acts as a patient advocate.
  • Provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers according to the care plan and predicted length of stay.
  • Participates in the development of educational materials/presentations for patients and/or significant others and documents outcomes in the medical record.
  • Ensures patients and significant others receive education regarding discharge and community services available.
  • Maintains annual mandatory education requirements, including emergency skills and unit-based competencies.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patients, colleagues, and Mount Auburn Hospital.
  • Participates in educational opportunities for professional growth, personal well-being, and license renewal.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.
  • 1-3 years related work experience preferred.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
  • American Heart Association – Basic Life Support Certificate required.
  • ACLS required for some specific clinical units.

Physical Requirements

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job is physical in nature, and employees need to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $95.37 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate due to shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices.
