Responsibilities
- Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, cognitive and cultural diversity of the patient.
- Applies knowledge of illness, injuries and diseases and uses available resources in assessment processes.
- Provides written assessment of patient on admission and subsequently; based on patient need and IMC policy.
- Formulates a goal directed, individualized plan of care, prioritizes and utilizes efficient resources as developed from documented nursing diagnoses/patient care and outcomes.
- Collaborates as appropriate with physician and other clinical disciplines in planning interventions to meet patient and family needs.
- Implements plan of care, executing nursing interventions in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
- Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients and families.
- Documents nursing interventions provided to meet assessed patient/family needs.
- Evaluates and documents patient response to and outcome of care provided and revises plan of care accordingly.
- Participates actively in staff development activities for unit and provides support and guidance to colleagues.
- Participates in performance improvement activities for hospital and unit/service.
- Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Experience: Minimum two (2) years' PACU experience in an acute care setting. Minimum two (2) years critical care experience.
- Licenses, Certifications: Current NY State RN License required. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)/ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
