Registered Nurse - Per Diem

Child Care Council of Nassau is looking for a Registered Nurse to work as a Health Care Consultant for our organization. Fluency in Spanish is required. The Health Care Consultant works in an independent capacity on a per diem basis, providing flexible time to assist child care providers in developing and monitoring health care plans and policies. The Health Care Consultant will also ensure child care providers meet and maintain the requirements for Medication Administration approval as mandated by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. Compensation: $55 hourly Qualifications Must have a current NYS Registered Professional Nurse license and individual malpractice insuranceExperience in Pediatrics or Child Care Programs preferredWillingness and reliable means to travel throughout Nassau CountyWillingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, as necessary.Bilingual in Spanish requiredFamiliarity with Microsoft Office Suite Responsibilities Educate providers about the requirements of the health care plan and assist them with the development of their program’s health care planApprove and sign health care plans for programs that require a health care consultantAct as the Health Care Consultant of Record for those programs requesting this serviceConduct on-site review of program to ensure compliance with OCFS regulations and health care plan policiesAct as a health care resource for all programs for which you are the health care consultant of recordAssist with development and implementation of individual health care plans for children with special health care needs, i.e., asthma, allergies, diabetes, seizuresAcquire MAT Trainer Certification and provide MAT classes at the Child Care CouncilPromote the MAT Certification option for all licensed providersConduct on-site visits every one or two years (depending on program) to assess continuing compliance with care planProvide technical assistance to programs as necessaryProvide Medication Administration Training (MAT), American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/First Aid course, and other trainings as neededMaintain records pertaining to each assigned programPrepare monthly reporting of data and statistics including, but not limited to, phone log, copies of invoices, documentation of time spent implementing the HCC role and responsibilities, reporting of OCFS milestonesAttend outside meetings as directed by the Director of Health and NutritionAttend quarterly NY State health Care consultant roundtable discussionsMaintain a relationship with OCFS LIRO to provide consistent guidance to child care programs and technical assistance as requested by the LIRO teamPerform additional tasks as required by supervisor
