About the role

The Registered Nurse in this role will be in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic and Infusion Center at Riley Children’s Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Work directly with oncology-trained pharmacists on site infusion area.
  • Encourage nurse-led governance councils.
  • Potential to move into a leadership position.

Requirements

  • Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ambulatory experience.
  • Infusion experience.
  • Nursing skills such as Central Line access and maintenance care, PIVs, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood product, and medication administration.
  • Training on hypersensitivity reaction.
  • Patient advocacy.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
