Registered Nurse - PACU - Variable Shift

About the role

The Prep Hold (PACU) Registered Nurse at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas is responsible for providing safe and effective care to patients undergoing invasive or non-invasive procedures or surgeries, including the immediate pre-procedure and post-procedure periods.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes a systemic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed, nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments and making nursing diagnoses.
• Develops a plan of care based on the assessment and diagnosis and implements care.
• Evaluates the patient's responses to nursing interventions.
• Facilitates departmental operations by completing patient logs, charge requisitions, and other paperwork, and maintaining required documentation of patient care and unit activities.
• Organizes activities during the immediate pre-procedure period to ensure all required assessments are completed and documented fully.
• Assumes responsibility for the efficient management of patients in the immediate post-procedure period.
• Communicates information appropriately with medical staff and other members of the healthcare team to promote continuity of care and attain patient expected outcomes.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and identify expected outcomes unique to the patient.
• Ensures implementation of operational standards that promote the maintenance of patient rights, including informed consent, clarification of patient expectations, explanation of treatment processes, maintenance of confidentiality of patient information, and handling of patient complaints.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• 2 - 4 years related experience.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the state of Texas.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification or PALS certification.
