Registered Nurse - PA-Behav Health STCF - F/T Days
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health, you will function as a caregiver for a specific patient population, focusing on expanding your knowledge and skills to provide effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will oversee the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination, ensuring safe and excellent delivery of individualized patient care. This role involves collaborating with nursing peers, physicians, and support services to coordinate patient care and unit activities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care according to evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care.
- Assessment:
- Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
- Perform age- and disease-specific assessments focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status.
- Recognize clinical and diagnostic changes in patient status.
- Identify patient/family education needs based on age, disease, and culturally specific learning differences.
- Planning:
- Develop a plan of care that prescribes strategies and interventions to attain expected outcomes.
- Formulate age- and disease-specific, patient/family-centered goals and outcomes.
- Coordinate a plan of care that is patient/family-focused, prioritized, and encompasses the continuum of care.
- Implementation:
- Provide ongoing communication with patients, families, nursing colleagues, and other healthcare team members regarding patient status and care plans.
- Implement age- and disease-specific care in an organized and timely manner.
- Provide or coordinate patient/family education and ensure understanding.
- Perform care according to established protocols, including communication and documentation.
- Deliver nursing care and treatments that reflect patient needs, advocate appropriately, and demonstrate evidence-based practice.
- Perform continuous Point-of-Care electronic documentation of assessments, plans of care, interventions, and evaluations.
- Administer medications using bar-scanning and documentation technologies to ensure safe delivery.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary discharge of patients to ensure safe transitioning and continuum of care.
- Evaluation:
- Evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Initiate interventions related to changes in patient condition and unexpected responses to care.
- Identify and address ethical issues in the practice setting.
- Respond to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Maintain competencies, certifications, and continuing education to meet facility accreditation and licensing requirements.
- Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
- Perform physical requirements: lift a minimum of 35 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day.
- Adhere to HMH's Organizational and Managerial competencies and standards of behavior.
- Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Required:
- A minimum of an Associate in Nursing or diploma in Nursing.
- BSN in progress and/or willingness to acquire within three (3) years of hire (applies to team members hired on or after November 2019).
- For team members hired after June 1, 2021: BSN required within five years of hire per union contract (P4567U, CC456U, CC689U, CC891U). Advanced master's degree in nursing programs satisfy the BSN requirement (e.g., Associates to MSN).
- Six (6) or more months of relevant nursing experience OR active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health's Nurse Residency Program.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work at the assigned HMH location by date of hire.
- BLS/CPR certification by the American Heart Association required within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, and demonstrate accountability for improving patient and caregiver lives.
- Strong focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and passion for delivering high-quality care.
- Preferred:
- National Certification in area of specialty (when eligible).
Pay
HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency. The starting rate of pay for this role is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act. The posted hourly rate may be stated as an annual salary in the offer, and vice versa, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and candidate credentials.
The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may differ from the posted rate based on non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to:
- Labor Market Data: Compensation benchmarked against market data.
- Experience: Years of relevant work experience.
- Education and Certifications: Level of education, specialized certifications, credentials, completed apprenticeship programs, or advanced training.
- Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
- Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
- Internal Equity: Compensation consistent with ranges for similar roles within the organization.
- Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and grant funding associated with the position.
Minimum starting rate: $46.25 per hour.
Some roles may be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also qualify for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
