Registered Nurse - Ozark Horizon School

About the role

The Registered Nurse or BSN position within the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD), is responsible for coordinating and implementing health care plans, providing training, administering medication, and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Cook up and execute a health screening plan.
• Design and implement special health care procedures.
• Train on lifting techniques, basic first aid, infection control, medication dispensing, CPR, and other in-service as needed.
• Administer medication and perform health care procedures.
• Follow proper nursing procedures and keep accurate records.
• Participate in staffing and Individualized Education Program (IEP) conferences to share the student's physical and health needs.
• Oversee Special Health Care Plans (SHCP) to ensure they are completed correctly and supplies are available.
• Notify parents if additional supplies are needed.
• Utilize each student's communication system.
• Take charge in creating and implementing a comprehensive school health plan.
• Accurately complete required reports on or before the set deadlines.
• Collaborate with the building administrator to maintain a tidy, attractive, safe, and clean environment.
• Maintain CPR training instructor certification.
• Maintain confidentiality of personal information.

Requirements

• Must be licensed as a registered nurse in Missouri.
• Experience with pediatrics and/or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
• Professional license required by state law.
