Registered Nurse Overflow Unit (4 South) Full Time-Nights

About the role

Newport News, Virginia. Hiring range $36.50 - $50.23/hourly. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population.
• Demonstrates nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training, see checklists.
• PARTNERS WITH PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILY TO DEVELOP, IMPLEMENT AND EVALUATE A PLAN OF CARE, TREATMENTS AND PROCEDURES THAT CONTRIBUTE TO PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOSOCIAL OUTCOMES OF THE PATIENT.
• Incorporates evidence-based standards of practice and collaborates with interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
• Facilitates safe patient transition to next level of care as part of plan of care.
• Demonstrates sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure patient receives consistent, competent and ethical care.
• Focuses on quality outcomes of patient when addressing service needs to ensure evidence-based quality care of patient.
• Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations. MODIFIES EDUCATION METHOD TO ENSURE PATIENT/FAMILY UNDERSTANDING.
• ASSUMES RESPONSIBILITY TO COORDINATE AND DELIVER INDIVIDUALIZED PATIENT EDUCATION AND DISCHARGE SPECIFIC EDUCATION TO FAMILY/CAREGIVERS. EVALUATES FOR COMPREHENSION AND DOCUMENTS.
• Evaluates for comprehension and documents.
• Evaluates resources and support needed and uses systems to ensure needs are met.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree, Nursing (Preferred).
• Associate's Degree, Nursing (Preferred).
• Program Graduate, Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma).
• High School Diploma or GED, HS Diploma/GED only required if Nursing Diploma Graduate.
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire.
