About the role

The outpatient staff nurse at MercyOne Newton Medical Center is responsible for delivering direct care to pre and post-operative patients using the nursing process. They coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and collaborate with patients, families, and physicians.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct care to pre and post-operative patients using the nursing process.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare disciplines.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and physicians on behalf of the patient.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of two years of pre- and post-op surgical care experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Iowa.
• BCLS certification at health care provider level.
• ACLS and PALS certification recommended.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application.
• Able to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
• Skilled in the post-operative care of infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
• Maintains ongoing nursing continuing education.
• Possesses the ability to function effectively during emergencies, crises, and stressful situations.
