Role Overview

This position involves providing high-quality peri-operative nursing care in the Operating Room, including patient evaluation, preparation, education, and monitoring during surgery. The nurse collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, ensures adherence to safety protocols, and responds to patient emergencies with critical thinking and technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess and prepare patients for surgery, including medication administration and site verification
• Educate patients and families about procedures and post-operative care
• Participate in surgical safety protocols, including briefings, timeouts, and debriefings
• Monitor patient condition throughout the procedure, documenting changes accurately
• Recognize and respond to emergencies swiftly and effectively
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices
• Engage in rounding with unit leaders and provide feedback for workflow enhancements
• Maintain compliance with certification requirements, including ACLS, BLS, and PALS

Qualifications & Skills

• Active RN license (NH or compact state)
• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum of 9 months related experience
• Certifications in BLS, ACLS (within 90 days), and PALS (within 90 days)
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
