Registered Nurse - Oncology

Position Overview: This role is within the Oncology department, based at UAB St. Vincent's East, and involves full-time night shifts (7pm-7am). The unit, 5 East, is a 22-bed facility specializing in cancer care and medical-surgical patients with conditions like pneumonia, COPD, CHF, and diabetes, as well as performing procedures such as biopsies, EGDs, lithotripsy, and cholecystectomies. Responsibilities Coordinate staffing and lead nursing/support staff, ensuring clinical objectives and quality patient care are met.Assign, educate, monitor staff, and contribute to performance evaluations.Assess patient care needs, develop care plans, and ensure appropriate care delivery.Evaluate patient outcomes and address issues impacting care quality.Respond to patient care concerns and manage through established channels.Assist with hiring, training, and staff development as needed. Qualifications Current RN licensure in Alabama.BLS certification within 1 month of hire; ACLS and PALS may be required within 6 months.Diploma from an accredited nursing program with at least 1 year of relevant experience. Skills: Leadership, staff coordination, patient assessment, quality improvement, communication, and compliance with certification requirements.
