Registered Nurse-On Call-Weekend (Exempt)

About the role

Provides on-call registered nursing support outside of regular business hours to meet patient care and operational needs across assigned departments or service lines. Utilizes clinical nursing knowledge and judgment to assess situations, respond to patient or operational needs, coordinate care, and support timely, safe, and effective outcomes. Adheres to Mercy policies, approved protocols, applicable professional practice standards, and nursing scope of practice.

36 hours per week, Weekend Option in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, MO.

Responsibilities

• Assess situations and respond to patient or operational needs.
• Coordinate care to support timely, safe, and effective outcomes.
• Adhere to Mercy policies, approved protocols, and professional practice standards.
• Practice independently within defined on-call responsibilities.
• Manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in time-sensitive situations.
• Collaborate with the care team while working independently.
• Perform essential nursing functions, including standing, walking, and assisting with patient care or equipment.
• Respond within established response-time expectations.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing.
• Minimum of two (2) years of relevant registered nursing experience in an acute, outpatient, procedural, or specialty care setting aligned with the assigned department or service line.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and related clinical systems.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to perform essential nursing functions.
