About the role

The SESLHD Mental Health Service is a specialised clinical service providing care to a local population of over 930,000 residents across Sydney. The Older Persons Mental Health inpatient team delivers person-centred, recovery-oriented care to consumers aged 65 and over experiencing mental illness, working within a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver high-quality nursing care to older adults with mental illness.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments and contribute to positive clinical outcomes in a specialised mental health setting.
  • Support consumers and their families while applying professional and ethical boundaries in complex situations.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to enhance service delivery and guide others in providing excellence.
  • Apply recovery principles and uphold the philosophy of consumer, family and carer participation and consumer-focused care.

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in mental health environments.
  • Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering high-quality patient care in mental health at a postgraduate level.
  • Proven experience in care, assessment and management of risk within the mental health environment.

Pay

$41.23 – $57.88 per hour, plus superannuation.

Schedule
