Registered Nurse - Nursing Float - Full Time - First Shift
About the Role
The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process: including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation, and time management. She/he is responsible for quality communication, teamwork, and leadership/professionalism. Also directs, coordinates, and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
A Registered Nurse III (RN III) is responsible for the care of the population they are assigned. A RN III must complete yearly mandatory competencies, unit-specific competencies, and Professional Practice Ladder requirements, which include:
- Assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse
- Participation in PI Activity and department initiatives
- Communication and sharing of information from unit or hospital committees, Valley Health-paid education, seminars/conferences, workshops, or nursing articles
- Maintaining a current portfolio submitted annually by March 1st
- Participation in a committee with validation of involvement
- Routinely soliciting and validating patient/family satisfaction
- Participation in peer review for the unit
- Developing a bulletin board or poster providing educational information to staff, patients, or family members
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
- Minimum of 5,616 hours of RN experience
- RN License required
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association (AHA) 'Healthcare Provider' (HCP) required
- Relevant specialty certification preferred
- Must meet all requirements of a RN II
- Competent to provide case-based care using the nursing process
- Competent to provide care across cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological stages of human growth and development
- Must have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital
Based on primary state of residency and in accordance with current Virginia Board of Nursing Regulations, must be licensed or eligible to practice pending licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia with either a multi-state license under the Nurse Licensure Compact or a single-state license valid in Virginia only. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.

Pay
Pay range: $38.33 - $53.94 per hour
