Registered Nurse, NICU - Full Time, Nights

Work hours: Full Time, 36 Hours, 7:00pm - 7:00am

45-bed Level IV NICU caring for babies as early as 22 weeks gestation. Family-centered care with a new family center. Strong staff engagement and collaboration. Leadership supportive of staff growth and development through the NCAP program.

Texas Health Plano is a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas with specialties in emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, advanced orthopedics, women's services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, an adult intensive care unit, and state-of-the-art surgical services. The facility is a Level II Trauma Facility, the only health care facility in Collin County to have achieved both Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility designation, and holds a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. Texas Health Plano is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital, the only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit in the DFW area, and is accredited by the Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement and as a Primary Heart Attack Center.

Requirements

• Diploma in Nursing or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
• BSN preferred
• Other - CLIAFE: Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
• 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
• 2 years of NICU experience preferred
• RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days required
• NRPA - Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 90 days and maintained annually required

Responsibilities

• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers
• Delivery of high-quality patient care through nursing education, nursing research, and innovations in nursing practice
