Registered Nurse - Neuro Critical Care - F/T Nights
Hackensack Meridian Health Registered Nurses deliver nursing care according to evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care to ensure safe and excellent individualized patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status, tailored to age and disease specifics.
- Identify changes in clinical and diagnostic status and address patient/family education needs based on cultural and learning differences.
- Develop and implement patient/family-centered care plans with prioritized, outcome-based goals across the care continuum.
- Coordinate and communicate care plans with patients, families, and the healthcare team, ensuring timely and organized delivery.
- Provide or facilitate patient/family education, ensuring comprehension and adherence to treatment plans.
- Follow established protocols in clinical situations, including appropriate communication and documentation.
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care, advocate for patient needs, and comply with care standards.
- Document patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and evaluations continuously using Point-of-Care electronic systems.
- Administer medications safely using bar-scanning and advanced documentation technologies.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary patient discharge to ensure safe transitions and continuity of care.
- Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes using critical thinking and initiate interventions for changes in condition.
- Identify and address ethical issues in practice, escalating concerns to the healthcare team.
- Enhance patient satisfaction by responding to opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education to meet facility and licensing standards.
- Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting a minimum of 35 lbs., pushing/pulling 10 lbs., and standing for at least 6 hours per day.
- Comply with HMH’s Organizational and Managerial competencies and standards of behavior.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Nursing or Nursing diploma required; BSN in progress or willingness to obtain within three years of hire (applies to hires on or after November 2019).
- For union positions (CC456U, CC689U, CC891U): BSN required within five years of hire; advanced master’s degrees in nursing satisfy this requirement.
- Six or more months of relevant nursing experience OR active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health’s Nurse Residency Program.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license for the assigned HMH location by date of hire.
- BLS/CPR certification by the American Heart Association required within 60 days of hire.
- Ability to adapt to changing patient needs, accountability for improving patient and caregiver lives, strong teamwork focus, dedication to ongoing education, and passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications
- National Certification in area of specialty (preferred when eligible).
Pay
Minimum starting rate of $46.25 per hour. The final base compensation may vary based on non-discriminatory factors such as labor market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budget considerations, and grant funding. Full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) positions are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits. Certain roles may qualify for shift differentials, performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions.
