About the role

Signed on bonus available up to $10,000. Daily work times: 7pm - 7:30am. Shift: Nights. Scheduled bi-weekly. Hours: 72.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with physician to provide a plan of care.
  • Provides bedside nursing care and carries out medical orders.
  • Delegates to and oversees Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Associate, OB Care Associate, Surgical Service Assistant, Nursing Clerk and Psychiatric Tech functions.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care plan.
  • Assumes responsibility for a leadership role encompassing:
    • Integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.
    • Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care.
    • Facilitating/participating in patient conferences.
    • Identifying and providing the means to meet patients’ ongoing and discharge/transfer teaching needs.
    • Assuming the responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital or elsewhere in the community.
    • Teaching and/or guiding professional and ancillary personnel.
    • Functioning as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
    • Communicating relevant information in a manner that is understandable and effective.
    • Showing organizational skills through effective planning.
    • Utilizing the nursing process on admission and throughout hospitalization, actively involving the patient and family in the plan of care through: Assessment Planning Implementation Evaluation.
    • Demonstrating safe medication administration in accordance to established procedure.
    • Responding to real or simulated emergency and disaster situations according to established Policy & Procedure.
    • Maintaining a safe patient care environment.
    • Demonstrating competency and knowledge in performing basic and specific skills and the utilization of equipment required for patient care.
  • Collects and analyzes data pertaining to patient care or unit-specific activity/process.
  • Provides for age specific needs of the population served according to unit specific competencies as evidenced by observation, documentation and peer feedback.
  • Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Consistently demonstrates Bay Pride behaviors.
  • Participates in activities which promote quality improvement and research in nursing.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and holding a current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Must satisfactorily complete ACLS course and Critical Care course within one year of hire/transfer.
  • Must satisfactorily complete first available Basic Dysrhythmia course.
  • Prior six-month experience in acute care setting or equivalent Critical Care Registered Nurse preferred.
