Registered Nurse - Med/Surg - Team Lead

About the Role

The RN Team Lead provides both formal and informal leadership on the nursing unit, collaborating with management to coordinate daily operations and delegate patient care based on skill, experience, and resources. They support staff development through teaching, precepting, and participating in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring high-quality patient care and smooth transitions. The role involves direct patient care, patient and family education, and adherence to the Mayo Nursing Care Model, with accountability across all phases of nursing practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate nursing activities, delegating tasks appropriately.
• Develop staff through education and mentorship.
• Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research.
• Ensure effective communication and care planning for patients and families.
• Provide direct clinical care as needed.

Requirements

• Graduate of an associate degree or diploma nursing program.
• At least one year of RN experience in a relevant setting.
• Current RN licensure and Basic Life Support certification.
• Effective leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, managing patient flow efficiently.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records; knowledge of work unit specialty preferred.
