About the role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Responsibilities
- Nurse I - Level 1: Responsible for individual nursing practice, determines appropriate delegation of tasks, seeks guidance for improving care, delegates tasks based on patient needs, condition, and safety.
- Nurse I - Level 2: Provides competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients with oversight of LVNs/NAs, assists in nursing education and quality improvement, partners with interdisciplinary team for effective transitions.
- Nurse I - Level 3: Provides competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of LVNs/NAs, assists in nursing education and quality improvement, validates care processes, demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making.
- Nurse II: Provides competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and LVNs/NAs, assists in nursing education and quality improvement, leads in holistic care delivery, evaluates practice, provides peer feedback, supports colleagues.
- Nurse III: Executes responsibilities demonstrating leadership, experience, and creative approaches to complex patient care, collaborates in policy development, provides formal or informal feedback, supports colleagues.
Requirements
- English Language Proficiency
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by an accrediting agency
- Completion of an associated degree/entry-level Nursing education program
- Current full active unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a U.S. state or territory
- Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with BSN
- Doctoral degree in nursing or related field with BSN
Qualifications
- Basic Requirements: Graduate of a school of professional nursing, English language proficiency, and current full active unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse.
- Advanced Requirements: Additional experience and education as outlined for each level.
Skills
- Knowledge of nursing theories and practices
