Nature And Scope

This position is responsible for quickly and accurately assessing the condition of the patient presenting at the clinic, ensuring proper handling of controlled medications, administering medications as ordered by the clinic providers, and generally overseeing patient care to maintain continuity. This includes carrying out the provider's orders for care, making referral arrangements, and conducting call-backs on previous patients.

The challenges faced by this position include delivering patient care complicated by new techniques, paperwork, changing department and hospital policies, increased information available on each patient, and fluctuations in staffing. The incumbent must also keep up-to-date with all standards to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including third-party reimbursement requirements.

The position involves providing direct patient care, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, and safety needs appropriate to the age of the patient served, meeting the standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age-specific competency standard.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Required and/or Preferred Education: Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Appropriate education to obtain and maintain Registered Nursing licensure in the State of Nevada.
  • Experience: Six months recent Nursing experience preferred.
  • Licenses: Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.
  • Certifications: Current CPR certification by AHA standards is required.
  • Computer / Typing: Possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
